Nelson Foundation Founder Michael E. Nelson, has directed financial contributions to various levels of the Boy Scouts of America and associated organizations including the Cub Scouts. Nelson an Eagle Scout himself believes in the character and leadership opportunities offered and taught by the Boy Scouts, he believes every child should be afforded the opportunity to participate in the Boy Scouts and the Cub Scouts. Through the generous contributions of Michael E. Nelson and the Nelson Foundation Cub Scout Packs and Boy Scout Troops are funded in poor rural areas throughout the South Western United States. Nelson believes the core values of the Boy Scout Oath and Law have shaped him to the man he is today, by affording the under-privledged the opportunity to participate in programs of BSA (Boy Scouts of America), "we are building tomorrow's leaders today", said Nelson recently at a fundraiser.
